Carrie and Damien’s visit to Gladlee 15th – 28th October 2002.

Carrie and Damien flew out to Bodrum in Turkey where Julie and Ron picked them up for a two week cruise on Gladlee. Starting at the marina in Bodrum, then sailing down to Knidos at the end of the Datça Peninsula. A difficult anchorage as the bottom is very hard sand and the weather was very windy.  They did get a chance to go ashore though and potter around the ancient ruins. From there onto Datça itself, a typical Turkish town,  where we had a meal onshore and later Carrie and Damien donned thin wetsuits to have a late evening swim in the coolish sea. We next visited Keci Buku, a small Turkish village and then to the large town of Marmaris where we went into Netsel Marina for a couple of nights.  We had a good look round the bazaar and ate out and tried a few bars. Next we did a long passage to Fethiye Bay and anchored in a small cove called Boynus Buku just south of Goçek for a night before going up to Goçek Town. Our final stop was at Yes Marina in Fethiye. From here we did ‘The Walk’ which takes you over the hills to Olü Deniz which Carrie found a little bit tiring! See picture. We got the Dolmüs back to Yes Marina. Had a nice meal in the Duck Pond restaurant. Carrie and Damien then got a bus back to Bodrum for their flight home.
